The Executive Branch budget is a biennial financial plan for Kentucky State Government. Every even-numbered year, the Kentucky General Assembly is required by the State Constitution to pass a balanced budget. The budget is the State’s financial plan for spending money for specific or general purposes from various sources of public funds. The governor proposes the executive branch budget for consideration by the General Assembly. Kentucky’s fiscal year begins July 1 and ends the following June 30.
